Cheshire Race Series : Race 3

Tuesday 7th May

Managed to get into a 3 man break at the end of lap 1 which lasted until the end of lap 2 when caught by the main bunch.
Another break shortly after with the main contenders but I failed to make a move and bridge and the bunch let it go.
That was the end of that and it was a tedious ride to the end.

CAAD 10 Build

This is the frameset I have on order, Delivery expected sometime in May.

26th April - frameset arrived.

First job was to install the crown race using a piece of plastic pipe from the vacuum cleaner and a rubber mallet for it go down on top of the forks.

I installed the forks and the headset bearings and cut a small amount of the carbon steerer. The top cap needs to be seated on top of the stem to get preload on the bearings and does not a spacer above the stem therefore, otherwise you get play in the forks.

I will get a more precise fitting for the steerer length when I have carried out a bike fitting.

I will keep the current 84 degree stem until I can source a more aggressive -17 degree one.

3/5/13

 3T stem sourced and fitted.

105 shifters arrived and fitted to bars.
6700 front mech
6700 brakeset

4/5/13

Build on hold until some barrel adjusters arrive - none supplied with frame and only realised when thinking about cable install.

6/5/13

A little more done
Cabling for RD and front brake

Thursday, 2 May 2013

A pleasant training ride of 10 miles just so on a very picturesque road on the outskirts of Crewe informally known as the A500 or Shavington bypass.

The only nod to aerodynamics was the wearing of my Sidi show covers that may have cut 0.000041% of drag.
The outleg marred only by my minuteman steamrollering me but then I started to catch a few of my own.
The return leg was into the wind and hurt.
Grateful to reach the turn in to the final mile. Searched for an extra gear but already in the 52/11 so it dawned on me I was doing a good time.

Cheshire Series race 2 - Over 50s

A lone rider when off the front on the first lap but it wasn't me.
I was still preoccupied in settling in and didn't take much notice. Surely the others were not simply going to let him go?
Oh.....
Apart from that, the Tunstall Wheeler helped boss the race around the front more the majority of the other laps, until the final 300 metres when everyone steamed past and the Wheeler trawled in at the back.
